Working on our "bar area"

We have a wine fridge and had been keeping it hidden away in the office. We recently decided that if it was out in the main part of the house-- we'd use it more! So, I'm working on making a little bar area in between our living room and dining room. Here is what I have so far and a few ideas I'm working on.
I want to find some large shelves that have a place for hanging wine glasses and I plan on getting a table similar to this one to replace the temporary table:
(and as you can see, my dear husband is using our wine fridge for soda! Not okay. I'm hoping to kick his soda out after my trip to the liquor store this weekend!) ;-)

Fall!

Even though we're going to be traveling over Thanksgiving, I still wanted to decorate. Like I've said before- I blog these pictures so I can look back next year and see what I did!

what's shaking?

Umm... our house!
LOL lame joke. ;-) Yes, we've had two earthquakes in a day. Craziness!! The first one was about 2:15 am and I was the only one in the house awake for it-- it was my first earthquake! The second one was just a few minutes ago and they're saying it was a 5.6. Pretty scary for this Oklahoma girl!

Halloween Decor 2011

Yes I'm late with this but I really liked my decor this year and wanted to remember it for next year.
The mirror decals are from Martha Stewart.
The picture frame is from Target. The bottle and books are from TJMaxx.

The vase is my favorite!! It's from the Missoni line that Target carried. It's so gorgeous in person. The wreath is from Sam's.
The glitter skull, spiders and ghost were all purchased at Kirkland's a few years back.
We had a fabulous Halloween with friends. I'll post pictures of our costumes (we both won best costume awards!)

Catching Up

My last blog post was almost 2 months ago. I almost threw in the towel, but I decided to keep this thing going. I basically use this blog as a diary. I love that I can look back 5 years ago and see what was going on in our life. So, I've decided to keep blogging for myself-- and if anyone else wants to read it, that's nice too. :-)

I've got so many pictures to post of the things we've done and the trips we've taken over the past two months! I'll start with one of the most recent events-- My Grandma's 80th Surprise Birthday Party.

what i've been doing on my summer vacation

I have been non-existent on here for the past couple of months--- I've been busy! In no particular order, I've been:

traveling
laying at the pool
making new friends
catching up with old friends
watching amazing (and not so amazing) movies
reading
enjoying whipped cream vodka
taking jack bauer to the dog park
picking fresh veggies
drooling over leaked Breaking Dawn pictures
going to concerts
and most importantly-- spending the entire summer with my baby brother.

Life is good.

p.s. the mustache is "ironic" and i.hate.it.

Not much to say about these-- we had a fantastic Mother's Day with my family.
I'm incredibly blessed to have such a great mom (and dad!).

girl's trip

**warning--looooong, rambling post ahead!!**

Last Thursday, I headed to Memphis for the J*nior Auxiliaries Annual Education Conference with 6 other JARB members. Last year the conference was in Mobile and was a blast-- so I knew this year in Memphis would be a good time.
I took a few pictures-- mostly pretty random shots on my cell phone, but here are a few:
After we checked into our hotel- the Downtown Marriott, we took the trolley down to a few restaurants & bars. We made a stop at The Peabody (you know, the place with the ducks!). I couldn't believe how crowded it was on a Thursday night-- apparently The Peabody is the place to be!
We ate dinner at a fabulous restaurant called The Majestic Grille. The food was fantastic, and the drinks were even better. (as you can see from all our empty glasses!)
on the way back to the hotel, the girls were quick to point out this convenience store named after my Jack Bauer, of course!
The next morning was another trolley ride, this time to a great little cafe for breakfast:
Here's where the pictures get random-- most of our time was spent in meetings, but we did take breaks for shopping at the conference galleria:
I bought this bag--- how perfect is it for me?!!? The dog even looks like Jack!! The galleria is always my favorite part-- tons of little boutiques selling J*nior Auxiliary themed stuff (our logo is a crown, so they slap a crown on EVERYTHING!) and lots of non-JA stuff too. I might have bought a different JA shirt for every day of the week. ;-) I just couldn't help myself!
So all day Friday and Saturday we're in meetings and listening to motivational speakers. Saturday night is the banquet:
so many women in one place!

Julie & I- she's the incoming President of JARB, and I'm the incoming 1st & 2nd VP.

The trip was so much fun! I don't know if I've ever laughed harder just hanging out in the hotel room with these girls. We had our first Executive Board meeting on Monday and I can already tell it's going to be a fabulous year and we're going to be able to serve the children of Benton County in so many ways.
