So, Mike & I have almost made it through our first week on the South Beach diet. We've been getting up every morning at 6am, going to the gym & alternating strength training & cardio workouts. So, I should feel great...right?? Ugh, I don't!! Don't get me wrong- I really like the working out--it feels great to get back in the gym (and it feels great to do it on my own & not have an evil college softball coach "making" me do it!). What's killing me is the Phase One of South Beach. During Phase one, you can't have any breads, pastas, starches or fruit. I miss my fruit!!! I want orange juice! I want a damn banana!! Luckily, phase one only lasts 2 weeks- then you can add back the good stuff- fruit, whole grain breads, oatmeal, dark chocolate etc. I hope i can make it that long!!
P.S.-- Hi to Brooke, I drove behind you this morning on 21st Street---all the way onto the highway!

wow so you were watching my erratic driving for much longer than i realized! i was worried i was getting sick this morning, because i was so foggy this AM. but we really just havent been sleeping well, and i didnt have coffee. and it was my first day back in the rover for a while. thanks for pulling me out of my fog!!!! most i have seen you since...well a long time! grr!
errrr, i am even dumber cause i just realized you called me! the rover is also noisy. and a good excuse for stuff. :D
we should happy hour sometime since we dont work far from each other!
ooooh, we should! that would be fun! It'll have to be in a week, when i can drink wine!! (yep, no alcohol on phae one either!!! boo!!!)
lol- paul can't drink for 10 days or something because of all the drugs he is on. we'll do it soon! and i commend your south beach/exercise enthusiasm! i have only been able to drag myself to the gym once a week!
That's awesome ya'll are doing it together. Makes it soooo much easier. Too bad Seth and I have different ideas of "the most effective diet." He thinks eating only chicken breasts and green beans for months on end while pumping iron is the only way. I think moderate food intake and cardio is the key.
