Airport Hell

Our Trip Home: A Time Line
1:00: arrive at the Raleigh-Durham airport for our flight home
1:30: make it through security- realize the flight has been delayed till 3:00
3:00: board plane for what should be a 2 1/2 hour flight to Dallas
5:00: The captain comes over the speaker & informs us that we are circling Monroe Lousianna because DFW airport is closed due to high winds... he assures us it will only be a few minutes until we are cleared to land.
5:30: pilot comes back on & tells us we are being re-routed to Houston so that we can refuel as we wait for Dallas!
6:30: land in Houston...and wait...
7:00: still waiting...
8:00: yep, still waiting...
9:00: we have been sitting on the god-forsaken plane now for 6 hours...we have to pee, the baby in the aisle next to us won't shut-up & we have officially missed our connecting flight back to Tulsa...
10:00: F'ing pilot announces that we will be taking off for Dallas in a few minutes...
11:00: FINALLY LAND @ DFW!!! we stand in line for 30 minutes to either get a flight home or a hotel. They give us a voucher for a hotel room. We go down to get on the shuttle thats supposed to run every 15 minutes...or so we thought...

11:30: call the damn Comfort Suites Shuttle to get a pick up at the airport...

12:00: call the damn Comfort Suites shuttle AGAIN...

12:20: shuttle arrives...

So, we get about 5 hours of sleep before we have to be back at the damn airport. We're on standby all morning... we don't get the 8am flight, or the 9am flight or the 10am flight...

But, some angel dressed as an American Airlines worker magically gives us 2 seats (next to each other!) on an 11:00 am flight!!! Now, the only thing to worry about, is where is our luggage??

This was the pile of luggage waiting for us in Tulsa-- all our bags were there! YAY!! I had never been so happy to be back in Tulsa!!!

Lessons Learned:

1) never travel the day after Thanksgiving!

2) Bring food on the plane... Mike & I were starving after 8 1/2 hours on the damn plane, but the family in front of us brought bananas & chips & candy!!

3) always pack a change of clothes in your carry-on!

Thanksgiving in North Carolina...

We had a terrific time in North Carolina. We got back a day later than expected...I'll post about that a little later. Mike's family was great. It was good to see Natalie & Rob again- I'm glad they'll both be staying with us over Christmas! While I was completely nervous about meeting Mike's mother- she was lovely! I also enjoyed getting to meet Mike's stepdad Randy, Natalie's boyfriend Lorenzo & Mike's grandfather, Earl. We ate tons of food-played tons of games & had fun!!!

Randy & Victoria took everyone to the Carolina Hurricane Hockey game. Mike & I had never been to an NHL game- it was sooo fun--they played the Toronto Maple Leaves, the game went into over time & then a shoot-out. Carolina won!

our AMAZING guestroom-- we slept on a California King bed-- it was ginormous & so freaking comfortable-- we're thinking about buying one before we get our new tv!!

adorable Madison-- such a sweet dog

(but kinda creepy- I've only been around little poodles & she was huge!!)

Leaving on a jet plane...

We had the best time in KC. I loved being able to introduce Mike to some of my friends. I'm honored that Stacy accepted the invite to be a bridesmaid! We fly out for North Carolina tomorrow-- I'm a little nervous to meet my future mother-in-law... but hopefully it will all go well!! In honor of me & mike's first Thanksgiving together, I'm posting pics of our first camping trip together back in March...this is the weekend I knew I loved him!!! awwww!!

these were taken in our tent--- it was freezing, hence the red noses & rosy cheeks!

Happy Thanksgiving everybody!!! We'll be back next week!!

Back to School...

I'm so excited for this weekend! Mike & I leave in the morning for Kansas City. I'll get to see some great friends & show Mike my school- Park University. Its such a pretty campus and I have great memories of my time there.

Mackay Hall

One of the entrances to the "Underground". Park has a huge underground area for the library, classrooms etc. Its like a huge cave- very cool!

Probably the most important spot on campus....the softball field!! This is where I played my very last college game!! tear

Blog Slacker

I've been slacking lately, no fun stories or pictures...totally boring! I'm excited for Lost tonight! This episode should be very cool- I don't want to say too much b/c P & B are Lost slackers & are still stuck on season one! This weekend should be sooo fun- we are going to Kansas City to see some college girlfriends of mine (my Kappa Delta Krunk sisters!!) I'm excited b/c I'm asking one of the girls to be a bridesmaid- so that should be fun. Next week, there will prolly be minimal blogging- Mike & I will be in North Carolina!
Below is a pic of my brother rowing at the Head of the Charles regatta in Boston...(he's the second guy from the front)...yay Connor!

happy friday!

I am sooo ready for the weekend! Mike & I have a date night planned on saturday which should involve lots of wine & a movie at home (we're oh so boring). I am also looking forward to getting caught up on my sleep & the laundry
(i can't believe i'm really this old & boring!)
Today we're going to meet with the event coordinator @ the Cherokee Casino to talk about using it as a possible reception facility. This is the first actual wedding thing I've done- so I'm feeling very "bridal" today! hahaha
Everyone have a great weekend!!

GOOGLING: Failure

in response to Kat's funny post, I found out why!! this is posted on google's site"

Googlebombing 'failure'
9/16/2005 12:54:00 PM
Posted by Marissa Mayer, Director of Consumer Web ProductsIf you do a Google search on the word [failure] or the phrase [miserable failure], the top result is currently the White House’s official biographical page for President Bush. We've received some complaints recently from users who assume that this reflects a political bias on our part. I'd like to explain how these results come up in order to allay these concerns.Google's search results are generated by computer programs that rank web pages in large part by examining the number and relative popularity of the sites that link to them. By using a practice called googlebombing, however, determined pranksters can occasionally produce odd results. In this case, a number of webmasters use the phrases [failure] and [miserable failure] to describe and link to President Bush's website, thus pushing it to the top of searches for those phrases. We don't condone the practice of googlebombing, or any other action that seeks to affect the integrity of our search results, but we're also reluctant to alter our results by hand in order to prevent such items from showing up. Pranks like this may be distracting to some, but they don't affect the overall quality of our search service, whose objectivity, as always, remains the core of our mission.

i still think its funny!! But, the best part is that if type in failure & actually hit the search button, michael moore is the 2nd listing!!

I NEED AN INTERVENTION...

I have an addiction- the knot! Pre-engagement, I had no idea the knot even existed. Now its my daily obsession (i'm even neglecting trent & my pinkisthenewblog fix). I go to the knot to look at pictures of cakes or dresses or invitations, and the next thing I know- 2 hours have passed and I'm looking at some New Jersey bride's bio, pondering the pro's & con's of fondant or buttercream icing!! Oh the shame!

Wiver Walk...

We had such a great weekend! Friday we had amazing sushi @ Memories of Japan (or as my 18 year old brother refers to it: Mammories of Japan) then saw Jarhead, great movie- we recommend it...and Kat you were right, Jake was very naked in a few scenes! Saturday night, Mike & I had dinner @ Tsunami with his dad & new stepmom & stepbrother. They took us out to celebrate the engagement! We went to the Tsunami down on the River Walk (or as I like to say, wiver walk- i had a problem with my "R's" when i was little!!). There are a ton of cute shops & restaurants (its by the OK Aquarium.)

Mike & I at the River Walk, after dinner- its so nice & would be perfect for a cute date night!!

I <3 this picture!

Date Night...

We're thinking about seeing Jarhead tonight. The previews look amazing! I'm really looking forward to the weekend, this week has been a long one. We're also excited b/c we get to dogsit for my grandma's adorable doggie, Dallas. He's a chihuahua, which I normally can't stand, but he's such a good dog!
And for your viewing pleasure...

Mr. Jake Gyllenhaal, shirtless!! hahaha

maybe i should do this every couple of days, the ryan reynolds shirtless pic was nice to look at for a few days!!

Van Wilder Is Scary!

Not much to report... we've been pretty boring the past few days. I'm officially out of my apartment- yesterday was the last day of my lease, yay! So, now we only have one rent payment- which is great. Halloween was fun, I handed out candy to the trick-or-treaters, while Mike cooked an awesome dinner. Then we watched The Amityville Horror . Not bad for a cheesy horror movie ( van wilder aka ryan reynolds made it very watch-able- he's in at least 80% of the scenes shirtless)

So, yeah...thats about it. Like I said, we're boring right now! I'm starting wedding planning stuff & Mike has been building a new computer.
I get to go to OKC tomorrow for a meeting (i'm excited to show off my ring to some colleagues!)
