manic monday

today has been crazy busy so far--- why do all my csustomers need help at once?? Good news is that I get to go meet with my florist today! She's a good family friend (and is doing all of our flowers at cost!) and she does amazing work...i'm excited to see what my options are for fall flowers.

In other news, Mike is in lockdown until Wednesday (he's studying for a test, working on a project etc). We had fun last night looking at houses/apartments in the cities we might be moving to after the wedding (i'm praying for Boston!!).

8 Lives Left...

its been a rough 2 days at the russell-solano household. i went out Wednesday morning to feed one of our cats (smoke, Blackie's brother) & found him lying on the ground, not moving & with one of his eyes dialated. Mike & I rushed him to the emergency animal clinic-- --- we were freaking out!

The vet started giving him B12 injections & started an IV-- I asked if whatever he had was life threatening & they advised us to spend some time with him before we left the office. They thought he might've had a stroke or some kind of head trauma.

Wednesday night we went to visit him at the hospital & they said he was in stable condition-- still wasn't moving & his eyes were still dialated. The vet called yesterday morning & told us Smokie was up moving around & doing much better. We got to bring him home late yesterday afternoon.!! He is still a little out of it & kinda weak-- but its a miracle that he survived at all!

until our wedding. which means 229 days till the honeymoon!! We've been talking about all the places we could go-- and we've found a place we're both excited about: hawaii! specifically, a hawaiian cruise. we've looked into norwegian cruise lines- swimming with dolphins, looking at volcanos(sp?), laying on the beach etc...we're still in the planning stage, but i think this is where we wanna go...

Too much time on our hands...

okay so let me introduce you to mr. rabbit-- he's sitting in our office, on the couch where customers usually sit and i love him! the bunny has been in the family since i was a baby- and my grandma had the crazy idea to bring him to our office for Easter. So we put an insurance shirt on him (notice he's holding an insurance trade journal) andi think he looks fabulous!

what a good weekend!! friday night mike & i went to see "Failure to Launch"- its a cute chick flick kinda movie-- and since I miss Sex and the City so much- it was cool to see Sarah Jessica Parker in something!

We had a blast at Jenny's housewarming/St. P Day party-- i loved getting to see everyone all at once, in one location! (and, Jenny's house is adorable!!

Finally, Panera on Sunday was fun too!

Life is good...

We've been slightly anti-social lately just due to all the crap we've been dealing with: Mike submitting a paper to the premier conference on Artificial Intelligence (I'm proud of him!), Me being sick, our house being a horrid dirty mess & wedding planning!! But it looks like things are finally calming down. Sunday Mike took me to lunch at P.F. Chang's, I had the best asian pear mojito EVER & then we took Miss Ellie with us to Woodward Park. i have been the worst blogger ever. my mom comes back in town tomorrow (yay, no more working by myself!!) and i'm FINALLY starting to feel better. i got to talk to one of my favorite people tonight---stacy (one of my awesome bridesmaids) so that put me in a better mood :)

this has been the week from hell & i just found out that my mom won't be backuntil march 9th!! wtf??!!?! so, as the boss I've made an executive decision that i'm closing everyday at 3pm. so there! in other news, mike is working like a madman on his last semester of school- i'm proud of him! And, I'm dealing with bridesmaid dresses and what-not. Oh yeah... we do have something to look forward to: COLDPLAY on Monday!!! Fiona Apple is opening (i luv her) & we have floor tickets!!!!! Woohooo!!

No time for blogging!!

Blogging will be pretty much non-existant this week for me. My mom is in Reno on vacation this week, which means I get to run the office all by myself!! (not fun!!) I'm not used to actually having to answer the phones, deal with customers etc etc all day long...so this basically sucks. I haven't even been to pinkisthenewblog.com today! HELP!!!!!!!!!

So i said i would update...but i don't have anything interesting to say. Mike & I had a nice relaxing weekend- we rented a crappy movie last night-Dark Water (don't watch it!!). Everything else is great-- my bridesmaids & I are picking out their dresses this week- I'm excited!!

Boring Wednesday....

so, i felt the need to update, just because i haven't in a while...but i really have nothing interesting to say! Lost is on tonight (i'm excited!). Mike is glad there's a show on tv that he actually enjoys (he hates all my favorites: american idol, survivor, dancing w/ the stars etc).

i thought i'd share our cute little tree that my mom & i always decorate for all the holidays in our office-- we decided to do little red heart ornaments for V-day. Thats all I've got!!

there aren't enough hours in the day...

i haven't been updating much lately...i've been too busy! as i said before, we're doing the south beach diet, which means we have to cook every day, no fast food or pre-packaged anything- so that takes a lot of time. we're working out 6 days a week @ 6am, which means we have to go to bed at like 10:30 every night...ugh. But, on the bright side, phase one ends on Sunday!!! thank the Lord!!

Phase One...

So, Mike & I have almost made it through our first week on the South Beach diet. We've been getting up every morning at 6am, going to the gym & alternating strength training & cardio workouts. So, I should feel great...right?? Ugh, I don't!! Don't get me wrong- I really like the working out--it feels great to get back in the gym (and it feels great to do it on my own & not have an evil college softball coach "making" me do it!). What's killing me is the Phase One of South Beach. During Phase one, you can't have any breads, pastas, starches or fruit. I miss my fruit!!! I want orange juice! I want a damn banana!! Luckily, phase one only lasts 2 weeks- then you can add back the good stuff- fruit, whole grain breads, oatmeal, dark chocolate etc. I hope i can make it that long!!

P.S.-- Hi to Brooke, I drove behind you this morning on 21st Street---all the way onto the highway!

Best Weekend Ever!

We celebrated our anniversary on Friday & it was perfect! Mike surprised me with dinner at Bodeans (alaskan king crab, amazing chocolate mousse & our favorite Pinot Grigio). Then we went to the Doubletree for the "romance package" (lol). We got an amazing room with a really pretty view, they brought a bottle of wine to the room & breakfast in bed in the morning!! It was a wonderful way to celebrate our first year together!!

 

Special Delivery...

I just got these gorgeous flowers deliverd to my office for our anniversary! The picture doesn't do them justice! Its a mixture of roses, lillies, lavender, daisies etc... I love it!! Happy Anniversary Mike!!! Love ya!!!

 

R.I.P.: Charlie Murphy

Charlie Murphy passed away a few days ago. We only knew him for a brief time, but we couldn't have asked for a better mouse. Rick James is still alive & is dealing with his grief quite well.

In other news, Mike & I have been very busy with work/school/wedding etc.Tonight is our anniversary, yay!!

Sort-of-a wedding post...

we found a chapel!! We went yesterday & looked at Kirkland Chapel (I'd never heard of it, but my mom wanted us to go look at it). Its right by Oaks Country Club & its soooo pretty!! I've got pics on our wedding blog. Go look!

In other news, Mike & I over slept this morning & didn't make it to the gym, boo! I've got to buy us a louder alarm clock!

Oh yeah, I'm loving the snow outside!! Yay for winter weather!!

Fun Weekend!!

we had a great weekend (even with the wedding shows!). Okay, so the wedding shows were kinda crazy... um, half the girls there weren't even engaged (how creepy) and the other half were like 17 years old (yay for Oklahoma!). We met some good vendors, we're still looking for a photographer & a limo service. We're going to go to Ann's Bakery & try some cakes, yum! Below is a pic of the wedding show nonsense:

Mike was such a good sport, that I took him out Saturday night to the hockey game. We LOVED it!! It wasn't nearly as cool as the NHL game we went to, but there were more fights! We had seats right next to the ice, ate some fun hockey food & are planning on going again next weekend.

This afternoon we're going to take a tour of a possibility for the wedding chapel. I'm less than thrilled with the customer service from Sharp Chapel, so we're on the prowl for a better one!!

TGIF!!!

ahhh, the weekend!! I am sooo ready to be away from work for a few days. I "suggested" to Mike that he should hang out w/ Jeremiah tonight so that I can catch up on my very necessary dvr watching-- I have some Project Runway, some Real World-Road Rules Gauntlet 2 and Meet the Barkers to watch!! ( high quality tv, right?). Saturday afternoon, I'm dragging Mike to a wedding show ( he's sooo excited) and Saturday night we're contemplating going to the Tulsa Oilers hockey game. Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Our First Piece of Art!!

this is the beautiful, meaningful, thoughtful painting that I gave Mike for Christmas. I commissioned an original piece of art from Brooke!

I'll do my best to explain some of the symbolism: Mike is the man in the painting, playing chess (he loves chess!), he's touching the queen (me- I love getting to be the queen!!) and...my favorite part:notice the two knight pieces at the bottom corners-- those symbolize Brooke & Paul "Knight"!!

I know Brooke could do a much more "artistic" explanation, but the point is--- we LOVE it!!!!!

Brooke, I can't tell you how much we love it & how much it means to us. This is something that will be hanging in our home when we're old & wrinkled!! We love what you did--this is the first of many peices of art we hope you'll do for us!!!
