family weekend

what a fantastic weekend!! My parents came up from Tulsa and we spent some time at a few local arts & crafts fairs, ate some fantastic food and played a ton of board games. Instead of writing on and on, I'll just let the pictures tell the story:

P.S.- Mike refused to take normal pictures with me this weekend! He would only smile if I did something weird (like wear his glasses) What.A.Dork.

Cullen-ized!

I was uploading pictures to my Flickr account tonight and found out they have some fun Halloween themed picture editing tools.

Check me out as a "hungry" vampire!

Photobucket

haha!! creepy, right??

and now after a nice ummm meal, I guess?

Photobucket

I played with these for a while- too fun!

and now the basis for both pics- I headed to the MAC counter today to take a look at their holiday kits. They just came out today and I bought way too much makeup. I love their eye stuff. :-)

R.I.P. Gibson

Last March I had an amazing weekend in Dallas with some of my best girlfriends. By complete chance, Gibson- the World's Tallest Dog was also in Dallas that weekend and happened to be staying in our hotel.

We're all big pet lovers and were so excited to take our picture with the bug guy:

Photobucket

(please excuse our no makeup and grungy clothes- it was early in the morning and we were on our way to the airport to pick up another friend.)

Anyway, I happened to see an article tonight about the world's largest dog... and it wasn't about Gibson. :( Turns out Gibson passed away over the summer of bone cancer. My friends and I were so upset to hear the news. He was such a gentle and sweet dog and I hate that his life was ended too soon.

They've set up an animal charity in his name: http://www.remembergibson.com/shop/
Hearing this news definitely made me hug my furbabies a little bit longer tonight.

let there be light!

I walked into the living room this morning and found only one lamp on my antique buffet... one of the cats (we're assuming Pinkie) destroyed the other lamp by knocking it off the table. Grrrr! I was livid!

So I spent the better part of today shopping for new lamps.

Here is the before shot:

Photobucket

and this is what I came home with:

with the flash on:

I'm not too crazy about the beads, but it looks like they'll come off pretty easily. And I got the pair from Kirkland's for $35! Such a deal! I am so glad I stopped there because I almost dropped $120 on a set of lamps at Hobby Lobby that were really similar.

Of course all this lamp shopping has made me want a new lamp for our entryway table... I'll keep you posted!

Fall Is Here!

Ahhh, my favorite time of the year! I just took the dogs out for their afternoon walk and grabbed these leaves out of our backyard:

Photobucket

check out how huge they are! I put my hand next to it to compare. These are pretty small compared to some of the monster leaves we have in the yard. :-)

Fair 2009

It's a yearly tradition for my mom & I to head out to the Tulsa State Fair. We spend pretty much the entire day in the buildings- looking at the booths, dodging pushy salespeople, checking out the 4H displays etc. We tried to figure it out, but we think we've been doing this for about 27 years! :-) Here are some pictures from our most recent trip:

to me:

The model is Crystal Renn and she's gotten press lately for her new book Hungry. I plan on reading it this weekend. :-)

there are so many drop dead gorgeous "plus size" (seriously hate that term) models right now.

My other favorite:

Ashley Graham. Gorgeous.

and another because I think she's so incredibly hot:

Must Have Makeup!

I saw this post over at Que Sera Sera and decided to participate. :-) Below you'll find my favorite makeup items. This is the stuff I buy over and over again- my staples.

I am a makeup addict! Sephora is kind of my home away from home. haha! I also like to mix high end products with cheapo drug store stuff. I've divided the pictures by face, lips and eyes. Here we go!

First off, this is my makeup bag, and the little bag I carry in my handbag every day. (wow, could I manage to say "bag" any more??)

Photobucket

I got the Coach bag at the outlet in Dallas and the LV was a gift (and definitely fake).

Face:

Photobucket

  1. L'Oreal Bare Naturale Mineral Makeup in Natural Beige w/ the translucent powder.- this stuff is so inexpensive and I really like it.
  2. Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage concealer. This stuff is amazing! The best concealer out there.
  3. Makeup Forever HD Foundation & Primer. Expensive but worth it. Provides fantastic coverage but it so lightweight and natural. Love this stuff.
  4. Nars blush in Deep Throat. *giggle snort at the name*. My go-to blush. I wear this everyday.
  5. Bare Escentuals bronzer in R.S.V.P. I use this occasionally. It provides a nice glow without being obvious.
  6. Makeup Forever Duo Mat powder foundation. The best pressed powder in the world! I wear this by itself most days.
Lips:

Photobucket

  1. Bobbi Brown lip glosses in Pink Sugar 9, Buff 4, and Slopes.
  2. MAC Lipstick in Hug Me and MAC lip pencil in BBQ.
  3. Trish McEvoy lipstick in Sheer Mulberry when I feel like wearing red. :-)
  4. NARS lip gloss in Striptease and NARS lip gloss duo in Orgasm & Hustler. I wear these most often.
  5. This is by far the most prestigious item in my makeup arsenal- Lip Smackers Lip Sparkler in Vanilla Frosting. This is about $2 at Walmart! I love this stuff!
Eyes:

Photobucket

  1. assorted makeup brushes- I buy them all the time and I probably have enough by now. ha!
  2. MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre. I use this as my eyeshadow base/primer and I love it.
  3. My everyday eye makeup. MAC eye shadow in Wedge and All That Glitters.
  4. Smashbox eye shadow trio in Head Shot.
  5. Smashbox Brow Tech Trio in Brunette/Taupe. This stuff is the best!
  6. Makeup Forever Aqua Eyes eyeliner in Pearly Brown. This eyeliner is the best I've ever used. It stays on forever and goes on perfectly.
  7. On the days I want a powder eyeliner, I use Bobbi Brown eye shadow in Black Plum. I apply it with an eyeliner brush and it lasts all day.
  8. My 3 favorite mascaras: Too Faced Lash Injection Pin Point- great for reaching every single lash- even the tiny ones in the corners. My #1 favorite: Christian Dior DiorShow mascara. Hands down best mascara ever. And, Fresh Supernova mascara. This mascara is conditioning and make your lashes really shine. I use this when I want a natural casual look.
So, that's it! I'm a makeup whore, I probably showed you about a tenth of all the makeup I have. I didn't want to embarrass myself too badly. :-) Anyway, if anyone else wants to play along you should post your favorte go-to products!

and then killed some time before KOL, just walking around Bricktown:

The concert was amazing. In all the shows I've seen (Radiohead, Flaming Lips, Coldplay, Rolling Stones etc) KOL was probably my very favorite!!)

this morning we slept in and got ready to head home-
